Dr Kathryn Hogan

BVSc, MVS(Murdoch), MVS(UofM), MANZCVS (Small Animal Medicine) ACVIM residency trained, Registrar in Small Animal Internal Medicine.

After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2009, Dr Kathryn Hogan started in mixed practice before following her passion for internal medicine.

She completed her first Master’s degree and passed the Small Animal Medicine Membership examinations with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists before commenced a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 2018. She subsequently completed her second Master’s degree and residency training program in 2021, and passed her American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) examinations in 2022. She is currently awaiting acceptance of her research paper, focusing on the impact of antacids on the gut microbiome in dogs, to complete her final requirements for specialization.

While she enjoys all aspects of small animal internal medicine (especially feline medicine), her key areas of interest include:
– Gastroenterology
– Endocrinology
– Immune mediated diseases
– Minimally invasive diagnostics including endoscopy

When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her two very cheeky and incredibly spoiled cats; Octavia and Aurelia, reading a good book (recommendations are always welcome!), travelling, or visiting her local Bunnings for yet another home renovation project.
